    Gary:
On my flank, one unit of warriors charged the flank of the goblin wolf riders. The assault resulted in a rout of the wolf riders but forced my unit of warriors to move further away from the action, which I think pleased Nidal. Although the numbers on flank were to my advantage, it would take a few turns to place all the units where they would be the most effective. Closer to the center, Nidal had a small goblin unit out in front of a unit of Chaos Dwarves with two handed weapons and a unit of Chaos Dwarves with Blunderbusses. Herb urged me to attack the goblins and force them to retreat but that would have been playing into Nidal's hands. What Herb didn't know was that I have played these guys before and I was aware of their tactics. If I had charged the goblins, they would have elected to run, I would have failed my charge and charged only three inches. Nidal would have then had the option of shooting my unit with blunderbusses or charge me with both units, one in the flank. Either way I was toast. So I decided to wait for another unit to help.

In the middle of the battle was where the real decisive action would take place, Matt was lining up several charges against the Ironbreakers. Herb and I kept winking at one another because we knew the unit had the banner of slowness and each unit charging them would subtract a D6 roll from their charge. If we could roll a high number on the D6, some if not all of the units would fail their charge. Sure enough, Herb rolled a 6 and the Black Orks could not reach the Ironbreakers. All of a sudden, Matt had this worried look on his face.

Herb: Damn the Hatred rule. We were forced to pursue, giving the Bull Taurus the opening to charge the Fear causing Breakers in the rear. While the Breakers didn't flee, they couldn't charge either, which the nifty Rune of Slowness had almost allowed them to do. It was almost a real donnybrook there for a while, but being the way things were going for the Dwarfs, the Breakers position was, shall we say, hairy at best. We continued to jockey for position on the left with some moderately effective missile fire on both sides. The one remaining gyrocopter started to pick on a large hobgoblin force with some success. As an amusing side note, the crashing gyrocopters did more damage then when they were "alive". I love this game.

Matt: The Iron Breaker 'sandwich' was all set, but then Herb gleefully announced the presence of a Rune of Slowness, meaning only the Bull Taurus could make it in. The foot troops on the right flank finally got into blunderbuss range, with Oglah Khan's wolfboyz rounding the Dwarf battle line for a nice rear charge on multiple units. In combat, the Taurus lost by 1 but stuck around - ready to take a flank charge next turn from another Dwarf unit. In our rear, the Miners fled from an oncoming Axemen charge- with the marksmen rallying that turn as well, the miners were now surrounded on all sides.

Nidal: Dwarves were falling left and right from our unanswered artillery fire. On the right, the bull centaurs naturally fled from the oncoming charge of 30 dwarven warriors in closed ranks. They were rewarded for their tactical knowledge by having half their number die to massed close-range gun and crossbow fire. Another large group of Dwarves flanked the unit of wolfriders who failed to destroy their gunner unit target the previous turn. They, in turn, fled away from the battlefield in hopes that they may fight another day. More importantly, they had reduced the gunner unit down to 5, and placed the infantry unit completely out of position for the entire rest of the game. The blunderbusses and warriors moved closer to their enemy, with the hobgoblins placed as a tempting morsel for the hateful Dwarves... but they would not bite, knowing that if they did, they would leave their flank open to both a charge and close-range blunderbuss fire. The bull centaurs in the middle who were originally sent to deal with the cowardly Golgfag returned to the rear of the army to help deal with a unit of miners that was wreaking havoc. The Bull Centaur lord and his group charged two units of gunners, one of which was shaken, and managed to break both. The original plan was to run them straight into the war machines on the hill... but alas, there were no war-machines left!
