Abaddon, Daemon Prince
The theme of our entire club display was Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade, so he had to be not just the Black Legion centerpiece, but the Crusade's as well. The first problem with this was that making a centerpiece for a 20,000 point army is a daunting task! The second was that Abaddon couldn't even be taken in a 1850 point army. In the end I killed 2 birds with one stone. I decided that he would be newly promoted to Daemon Prince, ridding me of the restraints of having a special character in my army. Making him a Prince also let me make him a more impressive model than a guy in terminator armour normally is. In the end, I think it turned out OK, but not great. He was one of the last guys I painted, and didn't get enough time...

Chosen Terminators
I took these mainly because 6 models would fill out 300 points, and I didn't have time to paint more than that. In Black Legion fluff, they do like deep-striking terminators, so I guess it's justified. Of all the Legionairres, I think the non-metallics turned out best on these.

Possessed
Mainly I took these for modeling opportunity. A big credit for the look of them must go to Pete Haines, who's Black Legion Possessed are often featured in White Dwarf. I chose rending claws for them because they were cheap and effective. The 'magister' may some day get promoted to an aspiring champion, but for the GT he was just a normal guy. For the Possessed's Rhino, I built upon the living eye concept, having one break out of a door hatch. The good thing about doing it that way was that I saved $16 on the Forgeworld door bits I would have otherwise needed to buy!

Obliterators
This army had worse problems than the Squats did in the heavy firepower department, and the Obliterators filled that roll nicely.
