The Chaos Dwarves are an army near and dear to my heart. I started collecting them five years ago, soon after I was introduced to the hobby. The decision to go 'Big Hat' was based on my love of the models themselves- something goofy about the hats and beards just stuck with me. It was the first army I tried to paint 'well', and I've gone over and repainted them twice since then, as my painting skills have improved over time.

I tend to write one list and stick to it indefinitely, but the Doompas have been with me so long that my standard army list has changed over time. It started off as small as possible in 5th edition, based around a Bull Taurus, the special characters Zhatan The Black and Gorduz Backstabber, and a core of cavalry and artillery. Since then, I've grown the army considerably; the current standard army list has upwards of 180 models, including almost 100 hobgoblins. The current list is quite the inverse of the original- now it's as big as possible!

I've honed the list and tactics to the point of near automation. The army pretty much runs itself these days, and when it runs well there's little an opponent can do to beat it. The Warmongers are a bit sick of seeing it at this point, so modeling and playing with it are on the back burner. I'm quite satisfied with where they are right now, and until the new book comes out, they are more or less retired, only coming out for special occasions and tournaments.

This army is one I truly love playing and painting, and regardless of what army I play in the future, Undead, Chaos, or Empire, I will always consider myself first and foremost a Chaos Dwarf player.
