Project #2: Emperor's Children Raelichus Jetbikes

While surfing the net a month ago for inspiration for conversions, I happened to find this picture of a brilliant conversion, based on a picture from the Warhammer 40k collectible card game, of the Emperor's Children Raelichus jetbike.

The conversion was done by a modeller whose handle is "Wenenum". WOW! was my first reaction, the second being: imagine a squad of those bikes. I knew I had to convert a bunch of them for my unfinished EC army, especially since Games Workshop just released the totally awesome Ravenwing Captain on a jetbike model.

Using the golden Games Workshop rule of "Counts As", six such conversions would count as a squad of Emperor's Children Bikers for my army. But as I began to try to reverse-engineer the conversion from the picture, I found more and more that I wanted to change the project entirely to something of my own design. A little Googling and Wikipedia legwork turned up some fluff about the Raelichus bikes and I read that they are Pre-Heresy vehicles. Cool, I thought. This gives me free reign to change the design as much as I wanted and back my idea up with a little bit of fluff-writing myself. So I began to imagine what kinds of alterations, mutations, and daemon possessions ten thousands years in the Eye Of Terror would've wrought on a small group of surviving Children jetbikers, and came up with this Noggin idea:

In the next update, I'll post pictures of my start with this project and try to give a detailled account of what I did. See you all next month!
